Why did my EV charge to 100% despite an 80% limit?

I had a small issue with my car that needed to be fixed, so I took it back to the dealer a few days ago. When I picked it up, I noticed they had it plugged into a rapid CCS DC charger and had charged it all the way to full.

The thing is, I have my car set to charge to 80%, following the dealer's recommendation, but for some reason, it didn't stop at 80% this time. Now, I am wondering. Do the rapid CCS DC chargers at the dealer override the charging settings in the car? For example, does it handle charging differently from the 7kW home charger I usually use?

When charging at home, I'd expect the car and app to team up and limit the charge to 80%. Our Born has always worked great with this. We just let the car decide the max charge and the app handles the timing. A DC charger should also respect the car's limit. I wouldn't worry about the car sitting at less than 97% for a bit. It's actually better to avoid always charging to 100%, as temperature changes can mess with the charge level. The main reason to keep it below 80% is to spread out the charge/discharge cycles between the battery cells, making the battery last longer.

Yes, rapid CCS DC chargers can bypass the car's charging settings, charging it to full rather than stopping at a preset limit.
